Launch of new study – ‘Seeding the future through Conservation and Regenerative Agriculture to meet the UK’s agricultural and climate challenges’.

The Glyphosate Renewal Group (GRG) has commissioned the European Conservation Agriculture Federation (ECAF), the University of Gloucestershire, and PWC to develop a study, ‘Seeding the future through Conservation and Regenerative Agriculture to meet the UK’s agricultural and climate challenges.’ Bringing together policy, environmental, and economic expertise, the study provides a comprehensive assessment of how conservation and regenerative agriculture can support the UK to build a resilient and productive, and agriculture sector. It will be launched in early May.

The glyphosate focused summary produced by the GRG, summarises the important role glyphosate plays in supporting conservation and regenerative agriculture in the UK. Drawing on findings from the wider “Seeding the Future” report, it explains how glyphosate helps farmers adopt key conservation agriculture practices.

The summary also highlights the economic and environmental benefits of glyphosate use. It shows how glyphosate supports farm productivity and contributes to the wider agricultural economy while also improving environmental outcomes. It also emphasises the role glyphosate plays in strengthening food security by supporting stable yields and reducing exposure to global supply shocks.

Finally, the document sets out how glyphosate supports wider UK policy objectives. It explains how its use aligns with goals in the Environmental Improvement Plan and the UK Pesticides National Action Plan, particularly around sustainable land management, emissions reduction, and integrated pest management. Overall, the summary presents glyphosate as an important tool for enabling sustainable farming practices, supporting farm resilience, and maintaining domestic food production.
